Getting Started with private valuation
Updated over 2 weeks ago

Valutico enables users to efficiently perform company valuations through a structured step-by-step process. This guide provides a comprehensive walkthrough of how to create a private company valuation on the platform.

In the Dashboard of your Valutico account, select the Private Markets option.

Step 1: Add Supporting Documentation (Optional)

You have the option to upload a PDF containing relevant company information.

This can include:

  • Company Presentation

  • Pitch Deck

  • Financial Estimates

How to Upload

  • Drag and drop files into the upload box.

  • Click to browse and select files from your computer.

  • Once uploaded, click Next to proceed.

Uploading a document will pre-fill the Company Information fields in Step 4 if the necessary details are detected. Additionally, the uploaded data will help populate the Qualitative Assessment module later in the valuation process.

Note: This step is optional, but it helps streamline the valuation process by providing reference materials.

Step 2: Enter Company Name

If a PDF was uploaded in the previous step, the company name will be auto-filled. Otherwise, manually enter the name of the company being valued.

Step 3: Add a Description and Keywords

Valutico offers an AI-powered assistant, Co-Pilot, to help populate the company description.

You can select to:

  • Retrieve Data from Public Sources – The AI fetches company details automatically from publicly available information.

  • Enter Data Manually – Users input company details themselves for greater accuracy and control.

For private companies with limited publicly available data, entering the description manually ensures that key business aspects are accurately reflected.

Co-Pilot Considerations

While retrieving data from public sources can save time, the AI might occasionally pull outdated or incorrect details. It is important to verify the accuracy of the information before proceeding.

Step 4: Enter Additional Company Information

If this data was not pre-filled from the PDF, enter the following details:

  • Location of Head Office
Select the country where the company is headquartered.

  • Industry
Search or browse the relevant industry classification.
Helps in benchmarking and selecting appropriate valuation peers.

  • Last Annual Revenue
Enter the most recent annual revenue figure.
The currency can be adjusted from the dropdown menu.

  • Company Maturity
Select the company’s stage of growth (e.g., Startup, Growth, Mature).
Useful for applying appropriate risk factors in valuation.

  • Similar Peers

Search for publicly traded companies that operate in the same industry.

Peer comparison is essential for using multiples-based valuation methods.

  • Valuation Date

Set the specific date for the valuation.

If the "Keep updated" toggle is enabled, the valuation will automatically refresh with the latest available data.

  • Last Actual Year-End

Specify the last completed financial year for accurate data input.

Default selection is set to December 2024.

Note: Fields marked with a red star (*) are mandatory.

Step 5: Provide Valuation Context (Optional)

Add details about the valuation project, such as:

  • Type of Valuation (e.g., M&A Buy/Sell, Investor Relations, Equity Financing)

  • Notes to help organize and reference this valuation in the future.

Once all necessary information is entered, click the Create Valuation button to proceed.

By following these steps, you ensure a structured and efficient private company valuation process within Valutico.
