How do Industry classifications work?

Industry classification, peers and transactions, relevant industry,

When creating a private company Valuation, you can choose a very granular type of Industry through a few different options. You can start typing in the Industry selection field - as you type, options will appear.

You can also click the "Browse" button to the right of the Industry selection field.

Here you can browse through Industry classifications based on NACE or GICS Classifications.

Valutico allows you to choose from hundreds of different industries, which will also be reflected on any exported Valuation. However, most of the databases we use (e.g. for market data) use simpler classifications, so our system essentially maps the NACE or GICS codes to our internal system.

When selecting Peers, you may see a more straightforward or higher-level classification. This is due to the market data classifications from our databases - so you may need to do more research to find the best peers or comparables for your Valuation if our pre-created starting list of peers doesn't match you or your clients' needs.
